Problem sending email from an aspx program11/30/2005 3:27:16 PM

Hi,

I have an aspx program that will send email out with the following code. I tried to send to a hotmail account and test it. the result is ..it is work fine from my outlook express, but not work when view from web hotmail. my coding is just simple one.

strhtml = "<html><head><link rel=...><script type=....><etc etc html></head></html>
MailMessage e = new MailMessage()
e.Body = strhtml
e.BodyFormat = MailFormat.Html
SmtpMail.SmtpServer = "www.xxx.com"
SmtpMail.Send(e)

I didnt quote all the detial, but it is a workable code. The problem is when view from web hotmail, font size, class all didnt apply. so once I view the source code, I found

<link rel..> change to <xlink rel..>
<script type..> change to <cursive type=...>

that why all css class cannot apply from web, but it is show correctly from outlook express, that make me headache at all, where going wrong? seem some translation and add some more unexpected character inside the string when pass into e.Body variable.

Much appreicate if anyone can figure out what going on for my problem?

things going more interesting..i found that can't use include css file inside a mail content instead define all css definition inside the mail content, so it work fine also from the web.

but it is work on yahoo.com email, but not hotmail.com, from hotmail.com & view the source code of the email, all css deinfition are gone away ( which meant can't apply css definition.

Anyone familiar with mail program with hotmail? my coding just changed to ..

For the sending failures, you'll need to have an SMTP server set up.

For the css... i think its a security risk to display an email with anything linking in to an external site.

For instance, images that are not embedded within the email can be used as trackers for mass spamming... if you open the email and see the image, they can see that your email is valid and proceed to send more spam.  The same with css i guess, your background image could be:-

background-image: url('http://www.somebadsite.com/tracking/[email protected]');

Not too sure why hotmail won't allow you to define your css inside the email... maybe it only allows certain tags or styles to be defined per-tag.

Ok..thanks for your comment.

I giveup now, in order to slove this css issue, I will hardcode all css definition inside coding, rather than apply css, then it should slove my issue.
