Hello,

I cannot log into DotNetNuke 3.0.13 for the first time.  I've tried:

Host / Host
host/host
admin/admin
Admin/Admin

According to what I found on the net this is the default admin username and passwords. None of these Username and passwords worked for the first time logging in.  What is the username and password to log in for the first time?  If these are the correct username and passwords and it is not working does anyone know why it isn't?  A solution could be adding a user to the database with admin rights.  I did that but I am not sure where the passwords are stored.

I cannot find this in the documentation...

Also, I tried to register a few new members and login with those username and passwords and that didn't work either. When I try to log in with the newly created users I get this:

"Login Failed, remember that Passwords are case sensitive"

If I select "Password Reminder" I get:

"Username Does Not Exit"

Has anyone ever experienced this with DotNetNuke?  Do you know of any psooible solutions such as looking at the table that stores the password and decripting the passwords somehow?

I had this problem twice this week.  The first on a local install on my PC.  Restarting IIS solved the problem - not sure why.

The second happened while logging onto DNN site delivered through my hosting provider.  In that case, it was not looking for admin/admin but rather my site password.

Is this a local (home or office) or a remote (ISP/hosting company) installation?  Did you get any errors on the install and does the initial screen you are seeing appear normal with the standard login prompt, etc.?

This is on a local environment (office).  I did not notice any errors during installation.

Actually I was receiving errors at the beginning when I was trying to install DNN 3.  I was receiving the "oject reference not set to an instance" error when trying to install.  I was able to resolve that by reinstalling  DNN 2 and then upgrading to 3.  Before I cleared out all of the old DNN files and the database and that created some issues.  I don't know if this is related to that or not?

After "upgrading" I did not see any errors during installation at all. No I am at the login screen and cannot log in.

I tried to restart IIS but that didn't solve the problem either.

Some additional information that I noticed ... We did not have the IP address registered in DNS.  Now that this is registered in DNS I can go to say "http://DotNetNuke" if this was the name given in the DNS.  But once I type in the address http://DotNetNuke into the browser it goes to the site but I can see that it redirects to the IP again. 

Does anyone think that the URL being the IP could be the problem?  Why is the address redirecting to the IP even when typing in the address of the site?

I have one more thing to add here that I notice I didn't say earlier.  I am using SQl Server 7.0.  Will that work with DNN 3.x or is 2000 required?
