Logging in as admin / host

First day with DNN!
After signing in and changing passwords (multiple times) my host account comes up iwth the Home/Admin/Host tabs at the top and my Admin account has only the Home tab. The book I am using illustrates the tabs are specific to the Admin account OR the Host account. Running DNN 3.0 HELP.

I had the same problem and after searching these forums for a solution (which no one had...) I started troubleshooting the problem myself. What I found to be my problem (Win XP Pro) was that I had only give folder (r/w) access to the ASPNET system account while it turned out that I needed to give access to the NETWORK SERVICE account.

In order to give the appropriate access, turn of simple file shareing (if you have that enabled) and right click on your installation folder, choose security and add (type in or search for) NETWORK SERVICE - then add it.

another thing to check: turn of your firewall/security software and see if that solves the problem.

Hi,

I have the similar problem after my first installation I didn't give the Network Service access, just ASPNET. I am unable to fix this after a "clean" re-installing it. I have taken every possible precaution (that i can think of)? On top of deleting all files, database and virtual directory, I reinstalled, IIS and .Net framework, plus turned off my firewall. I downloaded a new zip file and rebooted the machine.. nothing works and after 45 days of trying and ten installation tries I am giving up

I use Win XP pro (tablet) running IIS 5

Unfortunately I have run into this same issue installing DNN 4.0.2. I have installed it 4 times now with different results each time. This is very scary since I'm following the same procedure each time. I'm following Shaun Walker post here http://forums.asp.net/1114393/ShowPost.aspx

I am using WinXP Pro, VWDX, SQL Express.

The first time I installed it seem to work fine. I then tried to move the folder from the wwwroot folder to a different location on my harddrive and I couldn't ever get it working again. So I deleted everything and installed again. This time I got it to work again but when I made a simple skin and uploaded it I was having strange behavior with it not loading the default containers. Well, I deleted everything and installed again. This time I was getting the error:

The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] ) ERROR: Could not connect to database.Login failed for user 'MyUser'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.

No matter what users I created in the db or how I attached it or what rights they had, it would give me that error.

And now I'm on my 4th try and I'm stuck with this issue of logging in as admin or host and not getting any other tabs but the Home tab. It's like it logs in ok but has no rights.
