How to stop DotNetNuke from redirecting to my machine name.....11/24/2005 4:16:47 AM

Hi, I installed DNN 3.2 and when I access it from my own server, i.e go to http://localhost/dotnetnuke it redirects me to http://myMachineName/dotnetnuke which is fine.

However when I try to access DNN on another computer by going to the server's ip address, ie. http://123.123.123.123/dotnetnuke/ , it still tries to load up http://myMachineName/dotnetnuke ... which of course does not exist... how to I prevent this from happening? Thanks!

I'm sure others can explain the why part better. But look in the PortalAlias table and update the http alias field.  They say you can add a new line item to handle the alternatives.  I find I have to replace the line entry depending on how I want to access the site.

A single DNN Portal can have any number of domains pointing to it. For example a client I had had 30+ domains all related to the site pointing to the one DNN portal, needless to say the site ranked well!!
All you need to do is login as host go to the site settings page and look at the bottom of the page. You will see a list (only one entry to start with) of portal aliases that can be used to access your site. Just add whatever other domains you want here.
