I seem to have installed DotNetNuke OK, but am I supposed to see any tables in the DNN database, besides the sys* tables?

Sounds like you didn't change the default provider in the web config file.

Locate the line that reads like this: <data defaultProvider="AccessDataProvider">
It is set to Acces by default and will setup a Access Database if you forget to change it.
Change it to look like this: and it is case sensitive. <data defaultProvider="SqlDataProvider" >

You are most likely running on the Access DB right now so you will need to redo your changes and content for the sql database.

You are probably running on access... check your defaultdataprovider in web.config. Change it to SqlDataProvider becareful it is case sensistive.
