Hello
One of the most requested features is for an Event scheduler, so users
(not just admins) can create Event reminders for when an Event is due.
For example, Fred RSVP's to a Charity Function and sets up an Event
reminder to be notified 2 days before the event. An email is then sent
to him reminding him of the upcoming event.
Likewise, although you can send an email to the birthday person using
the Profiles module, normal users can not subscribe to be reminded when
it is a users birthday. I want a user to be able to be notified x days
in advance when it is a certain person's birthday.
I am in the process of designing this module but I am looking for
feedback and ideas. At the core of it will be scheduled items in the
core DNN scheduler, but I am not sure if there are any limits I should
be aware of. Considering that a user might have 20 reminders set, this
could result in a LOT of scheduled items. Can the core handle this? How
many scheduled items has anyone seen (other than the shipped ones?)
I have this pretty muched specced out but I don't want to spend ages on
it and then find out the core can't handle it. Likewise any suggestios
or feedback welcome. For example - is it reasonable to limit the
reminders to be only a daily basis? (x amount of days before). Should a
user be able to customize the message that is sent to them, or should
it just be a generic, templatable message? Obviously the first version
will be quite simple.
And for those who haven't seen, the Smart-Thinker Events module is free
for the next couple of days - you can read more about it here:
