Searching for a different kind of calendar/event module8/26/2005 7:13:59 PM

Hello all.  Before I begin I'd like to say I've found a great deal of helpful information on this site for DNN.  Everyone seems to be well informed and helpful!

So here is my question.  I'm searching for a calendar module that operates a bit differently than any I've seen so far.  What I need is a calendar to be in the left column of any page on my site that only displays hyperlinked dates and nothing else.  If a user clicks on one of the dates they will be redirected to a designated "events" page with the full listing of events taking place on the date they clicked.

I've tried "Avanced", "Enhanced Events" and "Advanced Announcements" and none of them seem to be able to accomplish this task (unless I'm not understanding how to configure those modules for what I need).

Thanks for any help!

I've been looking for something similar too, and I have also looked at the calendars that you mention. I'm not a .net programmer, so have no idea where to start in writing one myself, although I was going to do it in classic asp just to see if I could produce what I needed..

However, not wishing to hijack too much, if such a module were to be written, it would be rather nice if:
  • the 'calendar summary' display as described above could be configured to allow a choice of 'first day of the week' (taken from logged on user's registration culture and defaulting to portal's culture for casual browsers)
  • there were a small symbol/link at the beginning of each week that would display the events that week
  • would have recurring events like Alan Vance's calendar
  • would have many options such as category, location, dress code just like Rodney Joyce's
  • you could specify a mail address(es) to send any bookings to along with confirmation of payment
am I asking too much?

Try my calendar module at http://www.bigfoot-software.com.

It will almost do what you want in that you can set the calendar to "list mode".  In the this mode the calendar is displayed as a list of hyperlinked events that are separated by month headers.  Anyway, try it out and see what you think.

Soon.  I'm working on a store for my site and once that is up and running it will be available.  The source will be a purchased item from my store.

I tried the demo on your website.  I can't tell whether or not it fits my needs yet.  For example, let's say I have a homepage and a sub-page.  I want the calendar on the homepage and the event listing on the sub-page.  Also, instead of events in the homepage calendar, I just want a clickable day number and perhaps the box highlighted.  Something like this:

So can I have a Smart-Thinker Events calendar module on all pages linking to one subpage with all of the event listings?

Thanks for your time!
