Getting deeper in DNN and been loving it...

I have a module that will have a drill down grid object to show a hiearchical relationship.

Depending on what level a person drills into, they may need to edit a record from the first table or third table.

When adding a new module, there is the option of choosing the type:Edit, View, Admin,Host etc... However in the ModuleControls table there are many other types.

If I wanted to say EditTable1, EditTable2 etc to associated a module with a particular table for this grid driil down object, how can I do this? I'd use EditURL() to build the url and pass the "ControlKey" parameter to match the value in the table for the control I am looking for. But how do I get the non-default values like "Editable1" and "EditTable2" values in the "type" dropdown?

The type, View, Edit, Admin can be multiple for one module. You may have two Edits in this case but each would have a custom ControlKey.

Right, and my question is how does that custom control key get entered into the dropdown so it can be chosen?

I need to know what drop down list you are talking about. You might be trying to do something which is way off from what I am speaking of.

Under the HOST menu, Module Definitions:

When you click on "Add Control", there is the form that has a drop down on it of "Types".

The default values are:
Skin Object
Anonymous
View
Edit
Admin
Host


How are the values in this dropdown determined?

Those are the types of controls.
I don't think there is a lookup table but...

View(id=0 in table) is a module you see when the module first loads.
Most view don't show a Control Title.

Edit is what is accessed for module edits.
You may use a ControlKey of Options but its type would still be Edit.


Host means it will be called for every portal when ctl=ControlKey

Skin Objects(id=-2 in table) are just what the term implies. They inject into ascx when html skins are uploaded. They are developed and uploaded like a module in the portal.

The control title is simply like the module title.
