"localizing" Speerio Skinergy9/4/2005 7:18:11 PM

0/0

Hi,

First of all, Skinergy look very good.
I tried to enter some non English letters (actually RTL hebrew) as the top icons link's text (& tooltip) but got nothing in the rendered page. The source of the page contains nothing in the <a> ref link.
I tried to change some font families in CSS files, but no help.
All other elements (containers) display Hebrew very well, no complains.
Has anyone encountered such an issue with Skinergy?

What you're attempting to do will not work since the SkinPrefs and Palettes control do not expose any property that allows you to customize the ALT text for the images. Changing CSS files in this case is also irrelevant as there are no style classes used by the controls. What you need to do is to modify the text directly in the controls that are in the ~/Controls/Speerio/Skinergy folder or add properties to these controls so you can change the text from the skin.

This is a good feature idea and I will add it for the next version.

Nik

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I only changed the title attribute text and the text that is between the <a></a> tags.
this should normally work as in any HTML <a> link I expose with Hebrew text.
Why this line does not work:
<td align="center"><a id="Skinergy_IconSiteMap" class="Skinergy_Icon" title="??? ???" href="/dotnetnuke/???????/tabid/156/Default.aspx">??? ???</a></td>

OK folks, i've found my problem.

It's idiotic but: when saving the default.ascx file, it was not saved in UTF-8 charset, but in Hebrew windows code 1255 charset, which is probably my system default regional settings.

That caused asp.net to ignore all Hebrew text since dnn3 is expecting utf-8 files (since that's my settings in wb.config).

However localizing of some sort to "static" skin elements, like Skinergy's top icons might be usefull.
