I have used the "Community starter kit" for some time now. But still don't have a clue how it works. My club uses the site quite a lot, and I am now worried that the data stored can be lost. Where are the databases stored ? How do I access the info they contain? ie member list etc., Yes, I can see each record in the site, but surely I must be able to access the database on its own for all its info? My members are all very happy with the site, but won't be thrilled if I lose everything, (or the server goes down or whatever)
Can anyone guide me as to how to extract the info?
Thanks
Peter

Hi

Your database will be stored on the Host server , and depending on your hosting package they may be making backups for you, but from my experience I would not rely on this alone, certainly the cheaper hosting companies I would not trust to backup the data reguarly,

The way u will get to the database it thru your hosting comapny, they may have an online access to backup and examine the database, or you could use a tool on your own PC and connect to the database, with such as MS enterprize manager.

Your hosting comapany will be able to tell u if they have online access, otherwise u will need to get something like MS enterprize manager, to use this u will need the IP address of the database and it's name and login details.
