dont add a requiredfieldvalidator control if in case you've added one .

Strange question, because you have to make some effort to ensure that it is a mandatory field.

Don't validate the field.

One other thing i want to make this an open field ( ie. use other than dollars in it eg. N/A ) for my jobs and personals etc that dont have a sale price ..... rgds

I think the Price field in Table Ads ( database ) is not nulled.

You will have to make it accept null. Or else it will throw an error. Changing only in aspx files will not be useful.
Changes in table s is also required.

Does any one knows, how to remove last four digits and make it two digits in price field.

Currently the price filed is like this:- 88.0000

there are four digits shown after a dot.

I need like this:- 88.00

I think the decimal value is showing. How many places i need to make changes and where....?

Data stored in SQL fields of type "money" have decimal places to four digits.

You could try formatting the data before displaying it. A class already exists for this purpose -- App_Code/Web/OutputFormatting.vb -- you'll just need to create a new function.

See my post in http://forums.asp.net/2/1400787/ShowThread.aspx for similarly formatting ad descriptions to include line breaks.

Open your database in management studio right click on on your table in the object browser click on ALTER and in the code generated change .NOT NULL to ALLOW NULL and then execute it you would have changed it to be optional. Hope this helps.
