HI Everybody... Thanks for any help anyone can provide this newbie

I have my Classifieds Starter Kit up and working but when I try to respond to an ad during the testing phase

I get a message saying "EMAIL NOT SENT. CONTACT SITE ADMINISTRATOR"

Can anyone tell me why and what code I need to change to fix it?

You will have to modify the settings for your mail server in the web.config file:

<system.net>
    <mailSettings>
        <smtp>
            <network host="yourSMTPhostname" port="25" defaultCredentials="true" userName="enterUserNameHereIfRequired" password="enterPasswordIfRequired"/>
        </smtp>
    </mailSettings>
</system.net>

In my case I didn't neet the userName and password attributes so I deleted them.  My mail settings look something like this:

I figured it was something in the Web.Config file... thanks... haven;t tried ityet butIamsure it will work

My Web.Config already contained that code...

We have to ensure that your <smtp> settings are correct.  If you're using a username and password, try it without.  Also, double check that you have the correct host name (or IP), for your email provider's SMTP server.

I removed the user name and password and now it calls up the mail host but will not let you type your email within the textbox.

It acts like it freezes or something.... Any ideas on what to check?

I'm not too clear on what is happening when you say it acts like it freezes.  Would you be willing to upload what you have to your website so I can see what you mean?

Hi Mattbug, Thanks for your reply to my post. I had a family emergency and had to step away from this project and have just now been able to get back to it.. Yet My email still does not work...

I am almost desperate at this point to get this project working. I am willing to email you or upload to you any files you need if you can help me figure out what the problem is with my email.

I can;t get it to the "freezing" point again.. I am back to "Email not sent, Contact site administrator"

I would be most grateful if you could help me get it working...let me know what files you need and I will happily upload them to you...
