4 and 5 Level Tiers

What do I need to change to add support to the MenuAdapter to allow for Menu's that are 4 and 5 levels deep? Right now my problem is that everything beyond the 3rd level is automatically expanded whether you are on it or not. I tried adding another level to the hover and unhover functions in the MenuAdapter.js file to no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks.

The menu adapter, itself, should not need to be modified. You probably already discovered that you just need to add a few more rules to your style sheets (CSS). There are already rules for menus up to 3 tiers in depth. There are some comments in Menu.css and MenuExample.css that should guide you to the rules that you need to clone or modify in order to construct deeper menus. Hopefully, that's what you did and it sounds like you got things working. Cool. I'm sure others in the community could learn from whatever implementation notes you want to share... if you have a moment to post them here.

I'm always happy to hear when people say that they got their question figured out for themselves. Hopefully means that you eventually figured out the architecture and how it combines code, markup and CSS... and that you eventually found how you could make it work in your particular situation.

Does any one have an example of the code you need to add if you have more than 3 levels?
I've had a play but can't see what needs to change.
If you don't have this menus 3 + levels down are always visible

Prior to the release of the first RTM (non-beta) rev of the kit there was a rather lengthy discussion about how to build menus with 4 or 5 tiers. See, http://forums.asp.net/thread/1445959.aspx.

However, for RTM we changed a lot of the core Menu CSS rules in CSS\Menu.css so things worked better in more browsers (especially in IE7) so some of the suggestions in http://forums.asp.net/thread/1445959.aspx no longer make sense because they pretain to rules that are now rather differently constructed. Still, you might gain some clues from that thread. Frankly, I had thought that I let the rules in the RTM version such that they would automatically handle 4 or 5 tier menus. Maybe that was something I forgot to accomplish. If you are already using the RTM 1.0 release of the kit and you still don't have visibility of your 4th and 5th tiers, post back here and I'll brainstorm with you about how to fix up the rules. It can certainly be done because for beta 3 the thread I mentioned above definitely allowed people to build menus with more than 3 tiers. We should be able to do likewise with a similar solution for the RTM menu rules if they don't already let you go beyond 3 tiers.

Good luck pursueing this and please get back to me here to let me know what you find.

Do you have any advice as to how to add extra tiers to the menu?

So far as I know you need to add some CSS to the following:

I am trying to use the menu adapter pretty much as it came out of the box but it displays all items for tiers beyond the 3rd, as shown in the following screen shot. I would ideally like the menu to display as shown in screen shot C rather than how it currently does (screen shot B).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, not least by my hair which I am currenly pulling out Crying
