Stopping postback for expand collapse etc.

I have a large tree (100,000 node plus). I have been able to break it down many smaller XML file that are loaded dynamically. I did this by using the TreeNodeSrc on the treenode and setting AutoPostBack to true.

It works as expected but now I get the page rendered after every expand/collapses event etc.

Is there a way to stop the postbacks for the other events. I only need to Postback if a node with no children is being expanded.

I am fairly new to ASP.net. I have been reading about updating the treeview.htc file. I have looked at it and think I might be able to figure out how to modify it. However, I imagine this will change the behavior of all web sites hosted on the server. We install the web site on customer sites and I would not want to change behavior that they may be relying on for other web sites.

You need to modify treeview.htc in /webctrl_client/1_0/

In function nodePlusMinusClick()

comment out the call to the fireQueuedEvents() function
